The
Department of English and Comparative Literature (DECL), College of
Arts and Letters of the University of
the Philippines
has announced that "
the English Department is offering a Special Topics (English 198) course this upcoming semester, on Reading the Romance Novel":
The course is being taught by Dr Lorie Santos and she's shared the full syllabus
here. Included on the reading list are
New Approaches to Popular Romance Fiction: Critical Essays (ed. Sarah S. G. Frantz and Eric Murphy Selinger) and Pamela Regis's
A Natural History of the Romance Novel.
Is this upper-level undergrad? Or....
ReplyDeleteThe page here about the courses on offer doesn't specify the contents of "198" but it's being offered to undergraduates in either Anglo-American Literature or Comparative Literature. They're probably not first-years given that they have to have completed some other courses first.
ReplyDeleteThe Anglo-American Literature list of options states the following about 198: " 198 Selected Topics. Prerequisite: Eng 10 and Eng 11 (effective 1st Sem 04-05)"
The Comparative Literature list of options states the following about 198: "198 Selected Topics. Prerequisite: CL 30, 40, 50 and 100 (effective 1st Sem. 04-05)"
